On August 22, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption for July.
In July, total electricity consumption was 939.6 billion kWh, an increase of 5.7% year on year. For industrial electricity consumption: the primary industry used 14.2 billion kWh, up 1.5% year on year; the secondary industry used 565.6 billion kWh, up 5.0% year on year; the tertiary industry used 187.1 billion kWh, up 7.8% year on year; and domestic electricity consumption by urban and rural residents was 172.7 billion kWh, up 5.9% year on year.
From January to July, total electricity consumption was 5,597.1 billion kWh, an increase of 7.7% compared to the same period last year. Of this, 5,323.9 billion kWh was consumed by industries above a designated scale. Breaking it down by industry: the primary industry used 76.4 billion kWh, up 7.5% year on year; the secondary industry used 3,632.9 billion kWh, up 6.6% year on year; the tertiary industry used 1,039.6 billion kWh, up 11.0% year on year; and domestic electricity consumption by urban and rural residents was 848.2 billion kWh, up 8.4% year on year.
