The Grand Canal of Beijing and Hangzhou winds for thousands of miles.

The Grand Canal, as a "flowing culture", is not only a flow of time but also an emotional extension. She is not only the economic artery that nourishes the people, but also the cultural root that inherits history, connecting cities along the canal into dazzling star chains.
Formerly closely related to the Grand Canal of Beijing and Hangzhou
Jining is a city developed by canals - Zhugan Lane, Yutang Pickled vegetables, docks, water transport... Once Jining, prosperity is closely related to the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal.
Once upon a time, the Jining section of the Grand Canal was located in the central section of the entire Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. Historical records refer to Jining as "controlling the Jianghuai River to the south and connecting to the capital to the north", "located in the canal, with the collar and four sides", "closed is the key, opened is the clearance". In the era when "achievements are greater than river management, and politics are more important than canal transportation", the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties all placed the highest administrative agency for managing canals (the Water Administration of the Yuan Dynasty, the Governor General's River of the Ming Dynasty, and the Governor General's Office of the Qing Dynasty) in Jining. Jining naturally became the "Capital of Chinese Canals" that controlled the north and south of the great river, a cultural holy land where Confucianism and canal culture converged and converged, a commercial hub with huge momentum for river and lake integration in the north and south, a technological highland for creating the "Heart Project (Nanwang Water Diversion Hub)" and the "Yellow River Diversion and Transportation Project (泇 River Transportation Road)" of the great canal, and The ecological treasure land characterized by the style of "Jiangbei Suzhou".
The Grand Canal records the indescribable depth, grandeur, and glory of Chinese history and culture. Its excavation, development, and prosperity are also a part of the civilization history of the Chinese nation. On this magical land, Jining is not only an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and Confucian culture, but also an important birthplace of the Grand Canal and a concentrated embodiment of canal culture. At the same time, it has the rich resource advantages of "Confucian culture" and "Canal culture", as well as the two major brands of "Hometown of Confucius and Mencius" and "Canal City". This rare historical opportunity organically integrates the sincerity, benevolence, and righteousness of Confucian culture with the openness and inclusiveness of canal culture, forming a unique Jining Canal culture with "communication, inclusiveness, and innovation" as the core, honest and humble business civilization as the main body, and the "River Transport Spirit" of "daring to take responsibility and vigorously innovate" as the characteristics.
The combination of canal culture and Confucian culture has formed the Confucian business culture with the basic concepts of "gentlemen love wealth, take it with the right path", "honesty is the foundation, etiquette is the first", and "buying and selling cannot be achieved with love and righteousness". The folk culture, which passes down traditional virtues such as loyalty, filial piety, propriety, and righteousness from mouth to mouth and inherits them from generation to generation, has become a moral creed that Chinese people have adhered to for generations. These excellent traditional cultures are the bloodline and genes of the Chinese nation, an important element in shaping Chinese character, Chinese spirit, and Chinese wisdom, and have become an important component of Chinese civilization.
Now, sharing weal and woe with the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal
Nowadays, the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal connects the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta, and is one of the six main axes of the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network. It has gradually become another major artery connecting regions, urban clusters, provinces, and international transportation in China. With the development and prosperity of economy and culture, the Jining section of the canal has been revitalized, becoming the only navigable canal among the two provinces and cities north of the Yangtze River in China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, and Shandong. Among the 12 navigable canal cities, Jining's main waterway mileage and transportation capacity have steadily ranked first.
A smart container inland port has taken shape on the banks of the Longgong River, a tributary of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. Rail cranes lift and move containers for loading and unloading, while unmanned trucks shuttle back and forth between the port and the yard. The whistles of cargo ships and incoming vehicles echo in a bustling scene.
Surprisingly, there is no operator in the cab of the rail crane, and all the instructions for the crane come from the Longgong Port control center hundreds of meters away. The operator in the control center skillfully controls the handle, and the automated rail crane on the port begins to operate. Every detail of the crane's operation can be seen through the camera. It is understood that Longgong Port has introduced the concept of a seaport into inland ports. According to automation and green standards, it has put into use automated shore bridges, fully automated field bridges, and unmanned trucks, successfully breaking through the limitations of magnetic nail positioning and navigation. The positioning accuracy is within 2 centimeters, and the efficiency is improved by 30% compared to traditional methods. "The first inland port in the country to achieve normalized operation of unmanned intelligent transportation", "the only container port in the country to achieve full localization of automation systems", "the largest and most automated container inland port in the north"... These have all become the most dazzling business cards of Longgong Port, achieving a perfect transformation from a small bulk cargo port to a smart new port.
As an important node city on the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, Jining has fully leveraged its shipping advantages over the years, focusing on the goal of "a billion ton port, a million standard containers, and a hundred billion yuan industry", making every effort to break through the modern port and shipping logistics industry, and to promote the integration of port industry and city development. It has also strengthened the infrastructure construction of ports such as Liangshan Port, Longgong Port, and Yuejin Port. By leveraging the advantage of the "golden coordinate" location, Liangshan Port will be built in Liangshan County, which is closest to the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Wa Ri Railway, in a "point by point" manner. The development of multimodal transportation by rail, water, and public transportation will enable the Wa Ri Railway to successfully "hold hands" with the Yangtze River through the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, enabling Jining, a city that is not adjacent to the river or the sea, to achieve river to sea connectivity.
In the future, we will prosper together with the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal
This year marks the 10th anniversary of China's successful application for World Heritage on the Grand Canal. On June 21st, with a crisp whistle, the Jining Port Navigation 6001 container ship, loaded with 84 tons of wheat, corn starch, stone, roll paper and other goods, set sail from Jining Port Navigation Longgong Port and sailed at full speed to Taicang Port.
It is understood that "Jisu Green Bus" has put 6 container ships into operation, all of which can enjoy policies such as priority berthing, preferential loading and unloading rates, and reduced cabin fees, allowing more enterprises to enjoy tangible convenience and benefits in the high-quality development of inland waterway shipping. It connects Jining Port and Suzhou Port, achieving free flow and smooth direct delivery of goods, improving shipping efficiency, reducing logistics costs, and also conducive to leveraging the advantages of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal as the main waterway of national water transportation. It vigorously promotes "public water transfer" and "scattered to centralized", providing more convenient and efficient logistics services for enterprises in the two regions, and promoting high-quality development of regional economy.
At present, the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal runs 251 kilometers through Jining, with a total navigable distance of 1100 kilometers for water transportation in the city. There are more than 7000 inland vessels, ranking first in terms of navigable distance and transportation capacity among the 12 port cities of the Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. Ships with a capacity of 2000 tons and fleets with a capacity of 10000 tons can reach the sea from Jining Tongjiang. In view of this, Jining City has clearly proposed to include "strong breakthroughs in the development of modern port and shipping logistics" as one of the "nine major strategies" related to Jining's long-term development, to strengthen port and shipping, smooth logistics, revitalize industries, and improve efficiency, promote the transformation of traditional inland ports to open ports, bulk cargo transportation to container transportation, traditional ships to new energy vessels, and logistics radiation areas from Jining to surrounding provinces and cities, and promote the upgrading and comprehensive revitalization of inland shipping. The development of modern port and shipping logistics in Jining is showing a comprehensive trend. The advantages of Jining's inland waterway shipping are rapidly gathering, and the momentum is constantly accumulating, accelerating the transformation from "quantitative change" to "qualitative change".
At the same time, Jining actively builds a logistics corridor that connects east and west, north and south, and connects rivers and seas, creating a bridgehead for Shandong's opening up to the inland and international markets, vigorously exploring logistics markets such as coal, mining and construction materials, and steel, and continuously expanding container shipping routes. Currently, 18 container shipping routes have been opened from Jining to Wuhan, Shanghai, and more than 50 ports including Nanjing Port and Ningbo Port. It has taken the lead in realizing river sea intermodal transportation in the province, sailing to Fujian and Guangdong, and completing the first foreign trade container voyage to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
At various ports in Jining, modern ships descend along the river, with a constant stream of fully loaded container cargo ships. The huge gantry cranes operate efficiently, and the intelligent port continuously releases new vitality.
