Take Substantial Steps To Address 'key Small Matters' To Resolve 'major Livelihood Issues'.

The people's livelihood is of utmost importance, with even the smallest matters being significant. Issues such as "a shortage of parking spaces in the harbor area leading to inconvenience in vehicle parking" and "male employees unable to care for their families during their wives' childbirth, which is detrimental to their peace of mind at work" were highlighted during the collection of ten practical livelihood matters for the new year at Yuejin Port. Though seemingly trivial, such "small matters" are fundamental guarantees for the long-term development of the enterprise and constitute "major livelihood issues" aimed at enhancing employees' well-being.

From direct inquiries to compiling a "demand list"

To comprehensively identify the hot and challenging issues that concern employees, Yuejin Port combined the "Ten Practical Matters List" project with discussions between leadership cadres and employees. Supervisors were dispatched to the frontlines and among the masses to concretely document a batch of opinions and suggestions related to employees' clothing, food, housing, transportation, welfare benefits, and workplace safety into the "demand list."

"As a new university graduate employed from Guangxi to Jinan, renting a house is a significant financial burden for me. With a hopeful attitude, I mentioned the issue of housing subsidies during a heart-to-heart conversation with the department's leadership. Unexpectedly, the leaders took note, and now the company has not only promptly implemented relevant regulations and clarified subsidy standards but also provided long-lasting guarantees for me and future new employees through official documents. I'm especially grateful," said Zhang Liyu from the Finance Department, happily holding a salary slip with a 300 yuan increase in housing subsidy.

Assigning tasks face-to-face, consolidating the "responsibility list"

Merely listing the demands is just the first step; how to effectively address these practical matters for the people is the core step of "serving the employees." Yuejin Port requires all departments to develop measures and procedures around the list's contents to ensure that tasks are properly executed.

To genuinely deliver birthday blessings to employees, Yuejin Port's trade union, in line with practical work, selects two days each month as communal dining days to celebrate the birthdays of colleagues for that month. March 26 was designated as the dining day for March birthdays. Early in the morning, the cafeteria chefs began preparations, showcasing their culinary expertise to ensure that colleagues' birthday meals were special. The Party and Mass Work Department staff decorated the "Canal Hall" early with balloons and ribbons to enhance the event's ceremonial atmosphere. The union had already booked birthday cakes and thoughtfully prepared birthday cards for each "birthday star." The Production Mechanical and Electrical Technology Department, as the department with the most employees, made special arrangements for work hours to ensure that colleagues attending the birthday banquet could arrive on time. This seemingly small birthday gathering encapsulated the collective efforts of multiple departments.

"I never expected that, at over 50 years old, I would celebrate my birthday for the first time at the workplace. I'm truly grateful and it's an unforgettable experience!" exclaimed Han Chuanzhong, a maintenance worker from the Comprehensive Management Department, as he received his birthday cake.

To ensure that "key small matters" are properly addressed, Yuejin Port's party organization and trade union jointly conduct monthly tracking of the "Ten Practical Matters," publicly announcing the progress of these matters each month. Currently, six tasks have been completed, while the remaining items will continue to be monitored to ensure that all tasks are completed satisfactorily.

Attentively addressing practical matters from the heart, fulfilling the "service list"

When it comes to serving employees, the satisfaction of the employees determines whether tasks are well-executed or not.

Sun Hongbo from the Production Mechanical and Electrical Technology Department was the first employee to apply for paternity leave after Yuejin Port revised its employee leave management system. To ensure that employees' corresponding benefits are guaranteed, the enterprise's trade union promptly intervened and coordinated related matters.

"Hello, Sun Hongbo, I'm a staff member from the trade union. I noticed that you submitted an application for paternity leave this month. May I ask if our department's leadership has interfered with your leave application?" "Oh, no! The departmental leadership said that the new leave management system should be followed, and this is the welfare benefit I should enjoy. With my wife giving birth to our second child, I can take consecutive leave and have the energy to take care of many things at home. Now I can work with peace of mind, and my family speaks highly of our company," replied Sun Hongbo.

"We attach great importance to follow-up visits on task handling, using employee satisfaction as the standard to evaluate task execution. We fully listen to employee opinions to ensure that practical matters are addressed in the hearts of our colleagues, continuously enhancing everyone's sense of achievement, happiness, and security," said Gong Ming, head of the Party and Mass Work Department.
